Stem cell research is once again a hot topic, but this time it is being used as a beauty aid. Reports online reveal that a wrinkle fighting process involving stem cells is about to undergo trials. With this technique, the client’s own stem cells will be used to remove wrinkles. The product is already being billed as an alternative to Botox.
The success of the process hinges on skin cells called fibroblasts which promote the production of collagen. It will take one year for clinical trials to begin, but it is expected to take another three years before the process can be used. The technique is being developed by Pharmacells, a company located in Glasgow.
